General competencies courses are courses with objectives of:

a) presenting environmental problems and solutions in a societal framework including economy, organisation and social factors

b) to teach teamwork skills based on integrated project work

c) to establish a common professional identity of the master programme

Students must complete the following 30 ECTS general competence courses:

12104	Modelling of Environmental Processes and Technologies	10 Point
12237	Chemicals in the Environment	10 Point
12240	Environmental Management and Ethics	5 Point
42631	Environmental economics	5 Point

Students who have completed some of these general competence courses as part of their BSc study, are exempt from these courses in their MSc degree and may instead include approved additional electives in their program of study.

Students enrolled in the DTU MSc program prior to September 2010, can can include the following as a general competence course instead of the course 12237:
