The PhD Programme DTU Environment is a research-based department that is ranked among the world’s best research institutions within the field of environmental engineering and research. Current research topics include applied science, engineering, technology and management issues of environmental and resource-related challenges in national and international contexts pertaining to societal needs. DTU Environment attracts highly qualified and motivated researchers, teachers and students from all over the world. Research is conducted by a staff consisting of 30 faculty members, approximately 15 post-doctoral fellows, frequently visiting scientists and more than 50 PhD students. A well-established laboratory infrastructure and a range of highly qualified technicians contribute to the excellent research environment. The PhD programme is a 3 year programme designed to train researchers at an international level and interplaying with the international research world. The PhD programme is composed of a learning process where the PhD student is trained to perform research under guidance of the advisor. It is therefore important that DTU Environment advisor and the PhD candidate have met and learned to know each other before the programme begins. The language of instruction is English or Danish.
As PhD at DTU Environment you will be part of the scientific staff and with the same privileges and responsibilities as other employees. The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current rules for PhD degree students. The salary is comparable to the salary for research assistants according to Danish employment rules.

Who can apply for a PhD position
National as well as international candidates may apply for the programme. We are seeking highly qualified candidates with high grades from relevant BSc and MSc programmes and a focused interest in research. Persons who have been awarded a PhD degree have the right to use the title of PhD.
